Hungry, Ellen can't find the dinner her maid should have made. Disgusted, she leaves the house to find her maid sitting in the square and complains about her lack of duty. Lazily, the maid says she'll do it next time, but she was tired. Not liking the justification, Ellen says she'll punish her in a public square so that she never forgets to do her chores.
